Quinoa is a high protein food, related to spinach and beets, even though it looks and tastes like a grain. It contains up to 18% protein so can be eaten with other proteins although as a plant protein it seems to digest well with starches or proteins. Cooks in 14-18 minutes in double the amount of water, delicious cooked with our vegetable stock.
Wild rice is actually a grass that grows in lakes. Wild rice contains double the protein found in brown rice, there is more lysine and methionine in wild rice than other cereals or grain. High in B-complex vitamins, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and zinc. Cook 1 part rice to 2-3 parts water, added 1 tsp hand harvested salt for each 2 cups or vegetable stock to bring out the flavour, delicious cooked with short grained rice.

Ideal beans to make chili with full bodied flavour. Remember to cook all beans and lentils in our vegetable stock for exceptional flavour. Make easy chili with chopped leaks, dry stir fried, with red peppers and tomato puree and or tinned tomatoes or some over ripe fresh tomatoes. Add our chili pesto (see week 3 in 100 days to health program), some corn off the cob, chopped red pepper and tomato puree. Adjust seasoning with our Organic Garlic & Herb salt.

Mung beans are one of the most popular beans fro sprouting - soak overnight, then rinse twice a day in a sporting bottle or trays and within 3 days you should have delicious crunchy sprouts! Alternatively use to make Chinese dishes, especially sprouted, in spring rolls. Can also be cooked and added to casseroles and soups, contain a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and protein.

Buckwheat is not actually a grain it is a herb and is gluten free. For delicious buckwheat recipes, like buckwheat pancakes, see The Natural Way Recipe Book 1 pages 112-116). Rich in B-Complex, calcium and other minerals. Cook 1 part buckwheat (bring to the boil & simmer with our veg stock for amazing flavor) to 3 parts water for 45-50 minutes.
